Early Language Parent Group
Play, Learn, Connect
Play Learn Connect is a small-group, early-learning parent coaching program designed to support young children’s communication through play-based, everyday interactions.
This group is ideal for parents of toddlers and preschool-aged children who are unsure how to support their child’s language development, keep them engaged during play, or encourage interaction and connection — without pressure or rigid “therapy-style” tasks.
Led by qualified speech pathologists, Play Learn Connect focuses on building parent confidence and capability, empowering families with practical, evidence-based strategies they can use at home, in routines, and during play.
What parents will learn
-
How to tune in and respond to their child’s communication during play
-
How to use favourite toys and activities to encourage words, gestures, and interaction
-
Ways to add energy, expression, and turn-taking to keep play engaging
-
How to support back-and-forth communication — even before a child is using words
Why this program matters
Play Learn Connect aligns strongly with the goals of the Thriving Kids initiative by:
-
Supporting early identification and early intervention
-
Strengthening parent coaching and capacity-building
-
Embedding learning into natural, everyday environments
-
Promoting prevention and participation, rather than waiting for difficulties to escalate
By supporting parents early, this program helps reduce the need for more intensive intervention later and promotes positive communication outcomes across home, childcare, and community settings.
Who is this program for?
-
Children with early language delays or emerging communication skills
-
Children who are not yet talking, using few words, or not combining words
-
Families waiting for individual therapy or seeking early, preventative support
-
Parents wanting practical, realistic strategies that fit into daily life
Play Learn Connect is warm, supportive, and neuro-affirming — designed to help parents feel confident, capable, and connected as their child’s communication grows.
