Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently asked questions about speech pathology and occupational therapy at Milestones Kids Therapy Hub.
General Questions

How do I know if my child needs speech pathology or occupational therapy?

If your child is experiencing challenges such as late talking, delays in reaching developmental milestones, or difficulties flagged by a teacher or educator, an assessment with a speech pathologist or occupational therapist may be beneficial. Early support can help build your child’s skills in communication, play, sensory processing, motor skills, and daily activities.

What is your approach to therapy?

At Milestones Kids Therapy Hub, we use a neurodiversity-affirming, play-based, and collaborative approach. Our sessions are engaging, motivating, and tailored to your child's interests while being grounded in evidence-based practices. We work closely with families to support each child’s unique strengths and challenges.

What happens in the first session or assessment?

The assessment provides a thorough look at your child’s communication or functional skills, focusing on your main concerns. It may be highly structured or more flexible, depending on your child’s needs. We use a mix of observation, play, and direct activities to gain a clear understanding of your child’s strengths and areas for support.

Understanding Therapy

How long will my child need therapy?

Every child is different, and progress depends on various factors such as their individual needs, consistency of therapy, and home practice. Speech pathology and occupational therapy are not quick fixes but rather a journey of skill-building over time. Our goal is to provide meaningful and lasting support that empowers both the child and their family.
